This may sound a bit harsh, but I believe that many Americans have been thoroughly brain-washed into believing that the police (local, state, or federal) will be there to protect them when four or five “bad guys” attempt to commit an act of extreme violence against them or their families. Most Americans seem to be incapable of defending themselves or those around them from the aggressive predators who prowl our streets every day. A worst-case Y2K scenario could turn out to be a veritable slaughter for many of these people if they choose not to raise their level of awareness before it’s too late.
