I don't call a sizeable part of the FBI bureaucracy, the FBI elite Hostage Rescue Team, over 100 agents, Delta Force members, miliary liaison personnel, Texas Rangers given the power of Marshals, Janet Reno, and the White House, which we are now finding out was fully briefed on the assault, "a few nuts." They may have all been nuts, but they weren't a few. The tear gas assault went on for six hours. Apparently nobody in all those six hours said "hang on a minute, let's rethink this."

Not to mention the number of government lawyers who sat back and let Janet Reno lie to Congress when they knew she was lying, the dozens of FBI agents who knew of lies that were being told to the American people and to Congress and kept their mouths shut, the DOJ bureaucrats who reassigned the case after Johnson started questioning the party line.

This involves a large number of top officials of our government in the initial decision and in the later cover up. If we dismiss it as "a few nuts" we miss the very important lessons which we should be learning from this. Waco is important for far more than the people who died there. It is important because it is gradually bringing out into the open the extent and scope of rot and corruption in Washington DC and in our federal agencies.
