headphones have gotten to the point that they are such a small part of the market that 90% are probably sold at Christmas as gifts. sennheiser and akg are good brands that he would easily be able to find. sony owns the market in typical japanese fashion by giving the damn things away. another very good brand is beyerdynamic, which i repped quite unsuccessfully. but he would probably have a very hard time finding it. for all of these brands i know nothing about the infrared models. i tried that out when it first hit the market many years ago and was not impressed with the range even under ideal circumstances. perhaps it has improved since
