I'll go back to CBS Marketwatch headline ticker and see if there was an update with a correction........

By now though, others might have answered you, but I will look. Here's what I found at Briefing.com:
___________

Applied Materials (AMAT) 110 +4 1/2: --Update-- Outside of the earnings confusion, AMAT numbers were strong -- revenues of $1.57 bln were above estimates in the $1.4-1.5 bln range, and orders of $1.65 bln were also better than expected. AMAT seeing some profit-taking after hours (trading down to 107 1/2), but the numbers look good.

Applied Materials (AMAT) 110 +4 1/2: --Update-- There has been much confusion about the AMAT number -- total earnings were $0.77 but earnings from continuing operations were $0.69. The First Call consensus was $0.64. The issue is which number analysts were forecasting. Brokerage firm sources that we have talked to claim that the relevant number is $0.77; AMAT therefore appears to have beat estimates by 13 cents.
