Heh... no, not all womanizers, or all Viagra takers, or all people that are the subject of "You're so Vain"... only Warren Beatty...
My point is that for a stay at home mom to declare support for the pro-life position is entirely different than say.. 1) an 18 year-old college student with a scholarship to MIT that cannot be extended to "next year", 2) a venture capitalist who spends 30+ hrs of each week on airplanes, 3) a single mother who is a member of the "working poor" with no healthcare coverage ... etc. Imo it doesn't work being pro-life for anybody in exceptional circumstances, and I haven't seen any advocates of the pro-life postion that were that, so there you go. I don't think its reasonable for some 30 year old CEO to give birth and give that child up for adoption. We don't have 100% birth control and besides, many HMOs don't even cover it, and anybody can make a mistake and miss a pill. So when I said I don't like to be told what to do unless they are smarter than me, I probably should rephrase, and say I don't like being told what to do unless that person has lived in my shoes, in other words had some extenuating circumstance that pregnancy would have interrupted or halted completely. Most of the pro-life leaders I have seen are men, and for those that are women I don't remember any working women... of course they may be out there, I don't remember any though. |
