>>can you explain to me any similarities and differences between rbak and coppermountain.....thanks

I don't know what your background is so here is the basic difference.

Copper Mountain sells a DSLAM which is how a DSL service provider (like Northpoint, RhythmsNet & Covad - although Covad isn't a customer of CMTN...) aggregates the DSL lines it has provisioned to you and me. This concentrator then sends the traffic out of the DSL network and to a RBAK box. Redback does a subscriber management system (SMS) which sits in front of the router and aggregates lines coming out of a service providers multiple networks (DSL network, Cable TV, Wireless). Basically, RBAK's box makes routers more efficient such that you need less routers. The kicker is that installing a RBAK box also means you can sell extra services to customers. Copper Mountains products are basic infrastructure for a DSL network and hence CMTN is directly linked to its customers success in rolling out DSL access lines. RBAK's product is a system for managing subscriber relationships. RBAK is a RBAK platform. Both are plays on broadband but in different ways. RBAK has basically 100% market share of the subscriber management market.
