The only way to judge on large drops is to wait for the reversal up. That way you know the pullback is over.

Unless a stock has a clear support level, like previous bottoms or the BSL, you have no idea where a pullback from a high pole will stop. Pullbacks like this are normal but the best precaution to buying in the middle and not the end, is to wait for that reversal up. Then you have a close stop for a quick trade and at least some visual guide to your position.
