Hard for me to credit rather brief musical whims as being among most influential whatever's of the century. I liked a lot of "new wave" - "grunge" is, well, grunge.

If we elevate Bowie, why not Bob Marley, BeeGees, Kingston Trio, Harry Belafonte, Benny Goodman, Brubeck, Rappers.....this list could be endless. In any case, aside from the black to white crossovers that became R&R and the Folk revival/Beatles stuff, it's kinda hard for me to see much social IMPACT of any of the music.

BTW, what are Bowie's top ten impact of the century tunes?
Maybe I'll change my mind :-)
