come on bob, have gnet kick you down some bucks to get things running again

Yeah, I'll see if I can get them to cut me an expense check to upgrade the Packard Bell 386 to a Compaq 486. That should fix it.

Oh, and they'd have to fly me out there. I'm about 1500 miles away from the servers, and there are people more capable than I working on it.

i don't know, i would just think with the deep pockets at gnet they would be able to kick down some cash to upgrade SI so we don't have these problems

You missed the central point of my message. It's not a matter of the system running on cheap hardware. Not even remotely. It's not a hardware issue and throwing money at it won't solve it. The programmers are working on it and they just have to figure out, as Brad and Jeff always have done, how to get Windoze NT and SQL Server to perform reliably with such a huge load.

But if you're aware of a way in which they could use some cash to "upgrade SI", I'm sure they'd like to know. It'd be tough to find equipment more expensive or more powerful than what's being used, though.

Regards,

SI Admin (bob)
