I think there is definitely some truth in what you say.
I think there is absolutely a difference in how the question is asked. I think that the "tone" that you are speaking of, goes right to the questioner's intentions. Are they intentions of accusation, threat, confusion, hurt, curiosity, or any other in a wide range of emotions?
However, I think god might be able to understand whatever pain, confusion, anger, curiosity, etc., that particular person might be feeling.
I was joking about shirley, but I don't really have a problem that feels a casual (meaning relaxed, informal) relationship with God. If you can't be relaxed or hae a friendship with god, who can you have feel that way with?
Is God less capable of being a friend?
