ProNetLink.com to Broadcast of Department of Commerce Press Conference on the Economics of Y2K
PNL-TV to Broadcast DOC Release of 'The Economics of Y2K and the Impact on the United States' Study
NEW YORK, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- ProNetLink.com (OTC Bulletin Board: PNLK - news), the Global Trade Internetwork(TM), today announced that PNL-TV, the Internet's first trade-specific news network, will broadcast the Department of Commerce press conference detailing the findings of the Economics of Y2K and the Impact on the United States research study. The press conference will air this afternoon on the PNL-TV section of pronetlink.com.

The report estimates that from 1995 through 2001, U.S. businesses and government agencies will spend approximately $100 billion to identify, test and correct error-prone technologies. This is the equivalent of $365 for every American. The report concludes the single largest effect of Y2K on the economy may well be the diversion of these funds from other issues.

Speaking at the press conference were U.S. Secretary of Commerce William M. Daley, John A. Koskinen, chairman of the President's Council on Year 2000 conversion and Robert J. Shapiro, Commerce Undersecretary for Economic Affairs, who directs the Economics & Statistics Administration, which prepared the report.

``The Y2K problem is a crucial issue for the International Trade community as businesses from around the world continue to automate their manifest systems, global tracking applications and sourcing tools,' stated Glenn Zagoren, chairman of ProNetLink.com. ``Looking forward, we will continue to work with the DOC to cover important global trade events that are relevant to our growing audience.'

PNL-TV will also expand its programming with special broadcasts and interviews from the upcoming WTO meetings in Seattle at the end of November. Bruce Blosil, news anchor for PNL-TV, has been granted official press credentials by the World Trade Organization and will work with the Department of Commerce and other news outlets to produce exclusive content for PNL-TV throughout the meetings.
