VIRGINIA TECH FILES COMPLAINT AGAINST MIAMI

(AP) - Virginia Tech has sent film from last weekend's game
against Miami to the Big East Conference, accusing the Hurricanes
of eye-poking, groin-punching and other illegal tactics.
Officials shipped the video to John Soffey, coordinator of
football officiating for the Big East Conference, protesting two
specific infractions that occurred during the first half of the
second-ranked Hokies' 43-10 victory in Blacksburg on Saturday
night. In the first, Virginia Tech charges that a Miami player
intentionally shoved his hand through the face mask of Hokies
tailback Shyrone Stith and poked him in the eye. Stith was forced
to leave the game, but returned later. The Hokies are also
accusing an unidentified Miami player of kicking quarterback
Michael Vick in the back of the leg after a 10-yard run near the
Hurricanes' sideline. Vick stayed on the ground for approximately
a half-minute before getting up.
