There are few things as beautiful to a long as a semiconductor plant with demand exceeding supply and a concerted effort to close that gap with extra production. I was particularly interested to note that the tightness in supply (relative to demand!) extends from Xeon to Celeron. The appearence of 733 MHz into retail view is a heartening sign. I am looking for earnings north of $.60 and the key sign will be some upward revisions in earnings projections, probably within a week or two. I'm beginning to think that I might have twice as many shares this time next year due to another split.

As a sidenote, I expect that AMD will show a small profit ($.05 to $.10) this quarter. Given their spectacular history of lawsuits about forward looking statements, it is virtually inconceivable that they would have made that announcement of "break-even" unless it was in the bag (unless their death wish is mighty powerful and their management even less careful than I give them credit for). Overall I view this return to near profitability on a quarterly basis as a good thing. If they were to be sold to a less managerially challenged organization with deep pockets, they might morph into a more troublesome competitor. As a stand-alone, they are troublesome enough to maintain Intel's paranoia, while allowing Intel to remain enormously profitable.
