Thanks for the physics lesson. Just a bit of clarification, however. Are you saying that as the surrounding water temperature rises, the more-dense ice eventually sinks below the surface?

If so, then it seems that this would occur if the water is warmer than 4 degrees, not cooler as you say, since the water density decreases above 4 degrees. Or am I missing something?
