Cliff: "Why are fuel cells not available for use right now?" The answer is that in theory they are available for use, but they are way too expensive. The fellow from Daimler at the news conference the other day said that the cost will have to be brought down to about 1% of the current cost for fuel cells to be competitive for this application. That is what Daimler and Ballard will be working on, and that is why it will take at least eight years, according to the companies, for a commercial product to be introduced.
