This blows the HDR in the states as the last mile solution right out the window, unless the cost advantage with HDR is greater then CSCO has to offer.

I don't think anyone was ever counting on HDR monopolizing the last mile solution. But HDR will have two important advantages that will help carriers use HDR as a last mile solution early on to help justify their investment in HDR.

The first is time to market. If HDR is the only solution initially offered in an area, VOFDM is not yet a solution.

Secondly, because of the nature of VOFDM not being a mobile standard, there will be many areas that don't have coverage but that are covered by HDR.

So even if VOFDM becomes a successful last mile solution, HDR stands to benefit also. Mobile subscriber growth can then replace any "last mile" customers lost to VOFDM.

HDR is going to be explosive.
