Marinas and walkways:

Several years ago my wife and I were in Port Lavaca Texas. We were exploring along the beach when we came upon a walkway that circled out over a marsh area. We walked out on the walkway, and walked, and walked. The entire structure was constructed from plastic lumber. There were also one or two gazebo type covered places with built in benches, all plastic.

Last fall we were back in Port Lavaca and went by the walkway. It looked brand new just as we had first seen it. There was absolutely no apparent wear that we could tell. Amazing, especially for That harsh environment of sun, salt and sea.

There are marinas all over the world that are constantly replacing their dock boards that rot and become dangerous to walk on. I think that plastic lumber similar to that used in Port Lavaca would be a very desirable alternative to the wood now used at many marinas and docks.
