Chuzzlewit, Thanks for the article.
As you may know, in Q1 CC this year, it was stated the ASP market brought in $0 in revenues. In Q2 I don't believe it was specfically stated, but I'm pretty sure they said something like don't expect any revenues from the ASP market until mid 2000. In Q3 CC this message was repeated.
Yet if you read the slew of articles coming out lately, Citrix is being touted as the King of ASP solutions. Not that I'm complaining at all, but I don't get it.
If I'm reading your article correctly, it appears Emergent is not really generating MetaFrame sales as an, "ASP," but maybe because they are simply a consulting firm that provides MetaFrame as a solution for their clients. I don't know Emergent at all, if someone else does, maybe they can shed some light. Are they really generating MetaFrame sales as a result of being a true, "ASP?"
Not that I'm complaining, but even the press releases coming out of Citrix Solution Providers are kind of misleading. Last time there was this much excitement of this nature (lots of talks and not many facts), was when Java hit the scene. So I guess if you are a Citrix solution provider, you might as well try to work in, "ASP," into your headlines. Sure can't hurt.
If someone can find a case where CTXS is actually generating revenues off an ASP, that would be most interesting to read and may be the beginning of something real. I'm going to be listening closely to the Q4 CC. Afterall, the CS First Boston analyst apparently had lunch with CTXS and maybe he knows something CTXS didn't mention in their public Q3 CC about ASPs.
For those that weren't able to listen in to Q1, Q2, and Q3 CCs, CTXS brought it upon themselves to clearly state where they are at in regards to the ASP market. And it's pretty much what I said above. MikeM(From Florida) |
