Thank you for the thought, but my wisdom isn't infinite. With respect to the relationship of a child to his/her father, I bow to tradition, which is far wiser than I can ever hope to be, although tradition isn't always right in every case. I have handled a lot of custody and support cases, and I've heard psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, lawyers, judges, mediators, etc., speak on the topic, many times, so I am repeating what I've learned. I agree, completely, that people can use children as pawns, which is unfortunate. Nevertheless, that child would have much better self-esteem if he/she had a good relationship with his/her father. IMO. |
