Actually, for one of the parties, it's anything but life. Since you have mentioned red beans, though, I am willing to turn my attention to this non-divisive subject (EVERYONE loves red beans and rice, no?).
No cilantro. Of course. Not the right sort of combination at all, is it?
I've never used a pressure cooker. All depends on the bean, but, I tend to bring the beans and water to a good boil for a few minutes, remove from heat, then cover tightly and let stand for an hour or so. Then we're ready to get started. Throw in a few pieces of bacon, re-light the fire and then start looking around for other interesting stuff.
Cooking beans is fun -- low tech -- low stress.
I was looking at 48" Wolf range yesterday. MUST HAVE IT! In the middle of claiming it's a "real" commercial range v. a "wannabe" commercial range (he mentioned Viking), the guy opens the oven door and then starts hopping up and down on it. I was impressed! No idea why, but, I was impressed. Following link may interest any Feelie who ever gets the urge to burn up a whole lot of stuff at one time. Great discounts on some models.
