[PSINet]
Thomas --
Several thoughts come to mind. First, that PSINet is heavily backed by George Soros, so I'm hoping his people remember their ADSL friends whenever they decide which vendors to use. Second, that the sales rep to whom you spoke may have been referring to 56K standards which seem to be a much bigger issue at this moment in time. In that case there is no standard and some, such as GTE, are holding off committing until there is one. With ADSL, Amati's DMT holds the ANSI standard. Some times I think those who want to rattle cages with "there's no standard" yammerings are like the kid on the playground who says, "Your mom's a bitch." Well, of course she's not, but it sure as heck makes his opponent angry.
With those who want to question Amati's verity, the current buttons to push are: there's no standard, they have no business plan, and they have no product.
* There is a standard and Amati and its partners will fight to uphold it.
* They have a business plan.
* The Allegro is available for shipping now.
Hope this helps.
