The problem with South China was that it had no say in the operations of the tire factory. It was like a silent partner. Worse, in fact, because the multiple voting shares where controlled (and thus South China was controlled) by the Chinese partners while Canadian shareholders provided (or as it turned out, gifted) most of the equity. So, it was more like a bound and gagged and pummeled partner. A case study of how not to go into business with those operating largely outside of contract law.

At least NMO is controlled by the Canadian shareholders. Also, NMO is now in the power position by owning the PBR exclusive rights. If Pennal plays his cards right, NMO should be running the show.
