After the bell Thursday, the Canada-based networking solutions provider (NN: news, msgs) said it earned 8 cents per share, excluding one-time items, missing First Call estimates by a penny and announced a restructuring plan that will include a more than 10 percent reduction in its workforce.

"The disappointing results of the quarter compelled us to accelerate the deployment of a comprehensive strategic action plan,” Terence Matthews, chairman and CEO of Newbridge, said in a press release.

Shares of Newbridge, which rose 1 1/16 in Thursday's trading ahead of the release and popped another 4 points in pre-market trading Friday, according to Art Hogan, chief market analyst at Jefferies & Co.
