Well, I'm not up on the issue, or what Bush said, etc. I actually don't think Bush would ever be stupid enough to pull what the conservatives did with this Hormel thing... incredibly bad PR and as I say, only the real gay bashers would support it, because any small business owner, manager etc. knows that discrimination like this is not acceptable in the workforce. So even if you are on the fence about gay rights, you hear somebody say "we can't appoint this guy because he is gay and we support judeo-christian ethics" (which I think is their by-line), it sounds very bad and elitist as if its ok to do this in Washington but nowhere else in the country.

I realize I'm speaking of media coverage of this - which essentially said conservatives refused to back Hormel's appt because he was gay, which may not be completely accurate... but thats what people see, and it isn't much of a stretch because as you know Christian Coalition spokespeople will go on the Chris Matthews show and sit right across from one of the log cabin republicans and tell him he is not wanted in the republican party.
