My remarks were based on a hypothetical since I don't have enough information out Bush's actual statement and context.

If Bill & JLA are denying that it is Bush's position that he will not "knowingly" appoint homosexuals, it appears that the distinction they are making is that Bush "appears" to be saying that he would not appoint a homosexual that would use whatever office to promote an agenda.... "Don't ask, don't tell".

I think my gambling analogy is quite appropriate if the person making the homosexual "assessment" is doing so on a moral or even psychological basis. Gambling and homosexuality comparisons are valid if you're are making your judgement based on the principle of the belief that those who engage in risk taking behaviours aren't suitable for certain positions.

If Bush is indeed saying that he absolutely will not knowingly appoint homosexuals I would like to know what the underlying reason is and make a judgement about it then.
