Off topic --- option stuff...

A while ago, someone, I forget who, posted that they always close their option positions, even those which look hopeless as the end of the day. The reason given was that this person was caught by the ... on Black Monday, Oct 1987, as the position which looked worthless was exercised against him in after hours trading.

I don't know exactly what happened to this guy, but whatever it was, I don't want to experience it either.

The lesson: Spend a few bucks and close those options at 1/16. You'll buy peace of mind and a good night's sleep.

If anyone knows more about this stuff, please jump in and fill in the parts I'm shaky about.

Cheers, PW.
