Check it out. American Express("AMEX") is offering free trades, online or via phone, to investors with six figure accounts. When I was recently recruited by AMEX, I called my nephew who works as broker in another state . He told me, in substance, that online brokers don't make a dime on the modest fees they charge retail customers. Instead, they earn most of their money on kickbacks from MM for sending them our orders. And, as he put it, guys with six figure accounts tend to place more and larger orders than smaller retail customers. In any event, free is hard to discount, and the site is probably worth checking out. br1.americanexpress.com
