Hi Dale,
So first we hear that IM is getting out of it's build to order business, we see the Frameworks VP's door slam him in the butt on the way out and it looks like CPQ wants to do a gigabuys.com or close facsimile, they need distribution and product selection to put it together. So it appears that it's a done deal, CPQ gets Frameworks which has distribution capabilities for PC's Ingram probably gets more of the distribution for the rest of CPQ's e-commerce. Underscore probably because I would think that Ingram gets more out of the deal than selling it's build to order facilities. The big advantage that Ingram has in e-commerce is their total global distribution, I believe they are the only ones capable of serving the entire globe, unless I'm mistaken my understanding is that TECD doesn't serve the orient, yet. BTW the orient is heating up with major efforts coming from Dell.

crn.com

IMO the advent of Dell's gigabuys.com and it's growth plans is forcing the others to respond, they cannot allow Dell to capture new additional markets that could be used as weapons with which to compete against. Being as Ingram is involved as a backbone in Dell's web sight it appears that they've been able to position themselves as a neutral player with equal rights to all ( the big players that is ).

FWIW was told yesterday by someone at Ingram that H P was next in line to reduce distribution to all but a few distributors.

I get the feeling that dramatic changes are about to unfold.
