TEKNION CORP ("TKN-T;TEKNF-L") - Wins Thirteenth Design Award For Ability
Teknion Corporation, an international leader in office furniture design, manufacturing and marketing,
announced that it has won a Silver award in the Design of the Decade competition for its Ability mobile
furniture. The award, Ability's thirteenth since its launch two years ago, is co-sponsored by the
Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and Business Week magazine.
"This brings our total international design awards to 46 in the past three years," said David Feldberg,
President and CEO of Teknion Corporation. "It confirms our belief that a product line can be developed
to meet our customers' functional requirements while maintaining design integrity and excellence at
 the same time."
The award is being presented this evening at a gala dinner and ceremony hosted by IDSA at the
National Press Club in Washington, D.C. A jury of highly respected business, design and education
executives awarded 36 elite prizes for the best examples of design's contribution to business
success. The winners represent the icons of design from the past 10 years and will be announced in
the November 29th issue of Business Week.
"This is a distinct accomplishment for Teknion," said Steve Miner, Executive Vice President, Teknion
Corporation and President and CEO of Teknion, Inc., the corporation's U.S. operating entity. "Not only
have we enjoyed wide market acceptance with this line, we are now being honored with this very
important award which recognizes Ability as one of the decade's leading designs."
Ability was created to meet the needs of today's constantly changing office spaces. The line consists
of several height-adjustable multi-purpose tables, active storage components and highly functional
accessories that can be rearranged to accommodate both an individual's workstyle and the needs of
an organization. It can be reconfigured by the month, day or hour. Ability can be used independently
or in conjunction with panel-based systems.
