Jeff still others have dabbled in hedging You can always tell the professional investors from the amateur investors, (Jeff I am not implying you are an amateur I want to make an important point about hedging which has been discussed on this board in the past couple of days and your post inspired me), by the fact that amateur investors will always assume prices are rising and the downside risk is limited and usually double up their positions, (I have seen this in the option markets many times), while professional investors will hedge their gains each and every time. A question to the board: Guess which group of traders amateur or professional is still in the game, still trading, and prospering months and years later? It is not how much you have made year-to-date it is how much you will walk away with once the music stops.
