As I review ACRO's sales (lack of) it made me wonder what has actually happened to all the sales that have been projected to be out there over the past few years. I am referring to the huge number of both analog and digital transmitters that supposedly had to be bought when the government finally came out with the regulations on the transition to digital. My understanding is that broadcasters for a long time held up on purchases because regulations weren't issued and they didn't know what they would have to buy. Another factor apparently is that broadcasters are dragging their feet because they are waiting to see how quickly HDTV takes off. So far it certainly hasn't reached a critical mass and probably won't until prices come down more (perhaps they are getting close with a few sets in the $5000 range but I think they have to come down more. Any ideas from anyone how far down?) and until there are more broadcasts in digital and particularly in HDTV format. Sinclair's petition to reconsider the broadcast format, while it seems to be reasonable and addressing a real problem with the currently approved format, may also have delayed broadcasters orders. I hope this conveys they way I see the big picture but I am interested in everyone else's comments about how they see the market shaping up. Lastly, I realize that I don't know what actual sales are in the United States over the past year (or two) and wonder if anyone else knows what Comark and Harris are actually selling (or could there be foreign competitors that have sold). If they have huge sales while ACRO has none that would say that the above reasoning is false and that ACRO can't sell until they get an IOT out there. In any case, I would love to hear from anyone who has actual knowledge about real sales to other companies. Thanks for the help.
