What to Do About Microsoft? Antitrust Experts Offer Opinions

nytimes.com

You may have picked up this article already in your postings, but I find the following comment by Litan, who negotiated the Consent Decree, interesting:

In the end, Litan concluded, "the operating system market will probably collapse over time."

"There may be just one left, one winner," he said. "But whoever won would be severely chastened by this case."

It is interesting, though, that three of these five economists want to go structural. Both Salop and Litan say the compay should be divided into an applications company and three OS companies.

Me, I say keep things simple stupid. Just divide them into equal parts and let them do whatever thay want.
