NEW DELHI, Nov. 20
THE US-based $ 17-billion information technology services major, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), has announced a four-pronged growth strategy for India that would see the company going on a major acquisition drive in the coming years.
A recruitment process to increase the employee strength by 10-fold to 3,000 in the next three years, opening up of new facilities, shifting of certain internal operations of the parent company in India and developing centres of excellence are the thrust areas for EDS in the country, top company officials said at a news conference here on Saturday.
Later, talking to Business Line, EDS India Managing Director, Mr. Rajinder K. Chand, said EDS was looking at acquisitions in India as part of its strategy to strengthen the wholly-owned subsidiary set up in 1995.
"There is no other way that we can recruit 3,000 people in the next three years, though we are planning an aggressive recruitment drive. We are now looking at companies of different sizes," Mr. Chand said. He declined to divulge more details.......
