I find that waiting for gaps to fill can cause one to miss out on some big winners. I never wait for them to fill. I find myself trading strong stocks, and most all have gaps in their charts. For example, I traded ITRU last week, waiting for that gap near 80 to fill before initiating a long position would have been very costly.
