Bilow, Dell has a higher degree of integration from the assembly point to the client. VIA will have integration from the parts level to the assembly point. VIA may well become a vertically integrated mobo maker?, or may simply sell chipsets and CPUs to the mobo makers.?
They are uniquely positioned to make proprietary chipsets to go with proprietary CPUs that are x86 compatible, forcing a mobo maker to buy both. They can also make for the assorted Intel and AMD parts. VIA will certainly blaze a trail at the low end and gradually extend it to higher speeds. Intel can also do well at the low end as they have fab space freed by the decreasing feature sizes, they may not choose to do this, taking a higher margin tack as they have done in the past. AMD is possibly going to be unable to compete at the low end?, however Dresden is large and with machines added will become a very low cost fab.

This coming year will be very interesting, what with the major players like Gateway and Dell coming on board with AMD(soon, soon)
