NEED ADVICE

I have just started to learn MACD (histogram).

What I don't understand that my macd changes with the numbers of days or weeks I analyze. For ex. I use a 12-25-9 macd histogram, but its slope and value depends on the number of weeks (records) I type it. So it looks different if I analyze a 9-month or a yearly weekly chart.

Is this normal? What time frames should I use?

Thanks

Manfred
