Hi all from my hometown's Internet cafe. The connection is much slower here but it's better than nothing.
Had a long day attending my cousin's memorial service today and visited his grave for the first time. I would give anything to bring him back.
Big banner near my town's central square:
Clinton, People's butcher you are not welcome in our country.
As far as the riots, it was only caused by the same anarchist bastards. 10,000 marched peacefully but the vast majority of people just stayed home because the road blocks in central Athens made it just unbearable to get around. I had a hell of a time to get to the train station from central Athens. Just a few taxis and they wouldn't stop after I told them where I needed to go (a very short ride, $2 max)[I thought of Gulliani]...I had to carry my luggage, walk to the metro in pouring rain and catch a taxi from a busy metro station.
Clinton's visit, in national interest issues, was pretty much a nonevent. Like a national newspaper't title said: Clinton, Welcome and Goodbye.
Local cartoon showed people cheering "Clinton, please visit again ASAP and often PLEASE" and down below it had the title of the group: "Association of Storefront Glass Window Technicians". They were the ones who benefited mostly I guess.
But I am home now grieving with my uncle's family.
Peace
George
