My point was that important court cases like this one reduce a company's control over its destiny. That is bad news to an investor. Of course, the case can go msft's way and that's good news, but again, a court case increases investment risk.

How about an incoherent internet strategy? How about a vested interest in yesterday's tornado: the desktop? How about growing bureaucracy and corporate infighting? How about a brain drain to the inets?

Yes, qcom is a far better example of a rejuvenated giant. A closer analogy to msft's current status is ibm....
