Mike and all, this is perhaps too off topic or esoteric but I would appreciate hearing some thoughts.

Oil appears to be a runaway price train at the moment. Turning back the clock to 1973-74, what asset classes or market segments were the best performers immediately following the oil shock and market downturn? Or does anyone have an idea where to find the information.

Despite all of the statements to the contrary, I wonder if the dramatic jump in oil prices coupled with the latest interest rate hike might turn out to be the "event" which triggers a market correction and recession.
