The reality is that Nortel is having a tough time competing against the Cisco product line has resorted to the desperate measure of eliminating the bulk of their profit in order to try and regain some market share. This practice has been tried before in other markets and will lead to reduced profit margins for the company (Nortel in this case) and is almost always the beginning of a downward spiral. If you are looking for a good short play you might consider some Nortel puts instead. IMO
