When the day session closes, the official "last" print is the last trade of the day session. All of my quote vendors freeze that number. The only way I can see the "true" last is by the time and sales (aftermarket) and the "true" market is by the bid and ask (Nasdaq). If you use L2, the top section is the L1 quote which has the inside quote (this is what I'm referring to). Also, the top MM on either side is the inside quote or "bid and ask" that I was referring to. I'm certain you have it. If you use L2 on RealTick 3 platforms, you can enable or disable a scrolling time and sales on the Market Maker window. This will show the "true" last on a Nasdaq issue. On listed stocks (since it is done more manually) often will creep somewhat after the close, but this "last" is not reliable either. Time and sales is the only reliable "last" in the aftermarket, in all of my experience. I'm afraid that the "last" issue is an industry standards issue and not a QC issue. All quote providers have this same issue.
