FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 1997--Cirrus Logic Inc.
(NASDAQ:CRUS) today announced that its new software upgradeable
FastPath(TM) 56 kilobits per second (Kbps) chipset (CL-MD56XX) has been
selected by NewCom Inc., a leading modem manufacturer, and subsidiary of Aura
Systems Inc., (NASDAQ:AURA), for the company's next generation of super-fast
modems.

The selection of Cirrus Logic's chipset enables NewCom modems, including the
complete line of data/fax, voice/data/fax, speakerphone and DSVD (Digital
Simultaneous Voice/Data) products, to offer a superior software upgrade path to U.S.
Robotics' x2(TM) protocol and future evolving standards for high-speed Internet
access.

"As modem speeds increase, dependability and expandability become increasingly
important factors in the purchase process," said Asif Khan, executive vice president,
operations for NewCom Inc. "After very careful and extensive review, we chose
Cirrus Logic's powerful 56Kbps solution because of superior reliability, flexibility, and
cost-effectiveness of its software upgrade feature. Cirrus Logic chipsets combined with
NewCom technology helps insure the convenient migratory path that customers have
come to expect from our products."

"NewCom's selection of our recently announced CL-MD56XX chipset provides
strong validation for the software upgradeable strategy endorsed by Cirrus Logic and
U.S. Robotics with its x2 technology," stated George Alexy, senior vice president of
Cirrus Logic. "We believe the implementation of our high-performance chipset into the
NewCom modems provides customers with a superior chipset solution over other
56Kbps offerings."

The CL-MD56XX modem chipset builds on Cirrus Logic's innovative FastPath V.34+
architecture, incorporating a 32-bit ARM RISC processor along with a
high-bandwidth DSP that enables the architecture to handle multiple tasks
simultaneously and to support specialized functions.

This high-performance architecture supports a full range of advanced modem features,
including V.80 for high-quality videoconferencing, full-duplex speakerphone for the
ultimate telegaming experience and comprehensive telephony capabilities that bring
popular telephone functions to the PC.

Cirrus Logic is a leading manufacturer of advanced integrated circuits for the desktop
and portable computing, telecommunications and consumer electronics markets. The
company applies its system-level expertise in digital and analog design to innovate
highly integrated, software-rich solutions. Cirrus Logic's broad portfolio of products
