Microsoft Faces a Class Action on 'Monopoly' nytimes.com
Meanwhile, the NYT article of the day picks up on something you noted early on, Gerald. On this subject, I wouldn't venture any opinion at all, I think the "harm to consumers" comes much more from what I quoted Walter Mossberg on in Message 11974529 than from pricing. One little quote from this article, though.
The biggest financial threat to Microsoft may come not from corporate suits, but from class actions on behalf of the millions of users of the company's industry-standard Windows operating system. Such consumer suits, legal experts say, have the potential to cost Microsoft hundreds of millions of dollars, perhaps even billions, in damage claims.
Oh, who cares about "hundreds of millions", even if it came to that, after years of litigation, Microsoft has tens of billions laying around in cash.
Cheers, Dan. |
