Peter,

You do bring up good points that make the development of a revolutionary Novell client difficult. I knew those issues. The problem is that it is needed. The latest versions of the Novell client are HUGE. BloatWare is the correct term. It can only be delivered to your workstation via CD (if your not on the network already).

The version our site is using of the Novell client (3.1) with the ZENWorks is 39MEG! (The non-ZENWorks client is 12Meg) It appears that the amount that loads into memory is very quite large even though we do not engage many of the client options.

The client has also given us a lot of grief regarding glitches, non-functioning, response-time, etc. IT seems the client has become so complex and interwoven that new patches are constantly showing up to correct problems. (they are currently on 3.1 SP2)

With this client, I still cannot use the client to log into an NT server.

I know I am likely asking for a lot by asking for a thin kernel, completely modular, module location transparent, Java-based, multi-OS accessible, multi platform client. BUT!! Novell should set a goal of this possibly un-achieveable client. Then move toward it as best as possible.

Just something that has been on my Novell wish-list for some time now. Just wanted to express it.

Scott, what is you opinion on this? Is there room for improvement on the Novell client from Novell and if so, what do you think is feasible?
