Pat, ERICY is talking from both ends of their mouth:
certainly if they are thinking of buying NN they wouldn't say a word
about it because that would automatically jack up the price 30%+
and make any acquisition talks more difficult. The same applies to
everybody else. The last thing anybody wants is NN at US$ 33-35
from which to allow TM to start his bargaining.
No, instead I expect everybody to deny any talks.
Everybody knows that NN is the prize AND that if any of their competitors get NN
they will be smoked meat.
I think right now the bargaining is furious and all under the table.

Ericsson says not interested in Newbridge

``I think we have clearly stated that we are pursuing a strategy focussed on small
to medium sized companies. I think we consider
Newbridge (Toronto:NNC.TO - news) (NYSE:NN - news) bigger than medium
and a bit out of that league,' Ostlund said in a telephone interview.

He added that Ericsson's President Kurt Hellstrom had said last week
that the company was not in talks with Newbridge.

Newbridge shares surged 6.6 percent on Friday after the company said
it had opened the door to takeover offers as part of a strategic overhaul.

Last week, Ericsson's President Kurt Hellstrom told Reuters
that the company's strategy was to buy small to medium size companies,
although

he would not rule out making a big acquisition if an interesting option came up.

Ericsson shares fell 8.5 crowns to 398.5 crowns in late afternoon trade.
