Heinz, there is no other explanation other than bubble maintenance. By the Fed's own account loan demand is flat to declining in both consumer and commercial sectors. Temporary Y2K liquidity issues could be, and in fact are being, addressed with repos. Why else continue to add permanent reserves?

At some point this virtuous feedback mechanism of endless money being thrown into the system, cooked gov't numbers to show lack of "inflation", endless upgrades by the pimps in light of year to year declining profits, etc. must come to an end. Until then, the band marches on...
