If what you say is accurate about people leaving CSCO - it may have more to do with Cisco's stock price than with start-up's IPO'ing. It's my guess that Cisco engineers that have been with Cisco for any reasonable length of time don't need to work... Start-up's are for fun more than money. Could it be that CSCO provides more options to their employee's and therefore see's more attrition due to "early retirement" than perhaps LU or NT. I've heard that NT doesn't provide options at management levels... I'm not sure about LU.
