But the Networks are not that sophisticated in
determining if a given 'phone is 'efficient'. Field trials are geared to ensuring that a manufacturers 'phone is useable in a reliable manner. i.e - the 'good enough' standard prevails.


Can you elaborate on this. I am under the impression that this may have been the case (good enough is good enough) before networks near capacity but that the field tests will give a relative rating to each phone in respect to spectrum efficiency or whatever you want to call it and that this rating will become increasingly important to carriers going forward.
