Business Wire FRANKLIN TELECOM RECEIVES $2.1 MILLION ORDER FOR VOICE OVER THE INTERNET PRODUCTS BUSINESS EDITORS
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 22, 1999-- Franklin Telecom (AMEX:FCM.A) today announced that it has received a purchase order in excess of $2 million for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) hardware products. Additional details about this customer will be announced at a later date. According to Franklin Chief Executive Officer Frank Peters: "Our new customer has a highly sophisticated and efficient global network. We have been working with them for several months to customize our Tempest(R) VoIP hardware and software to accommodate their existing system, so they don't have to 'reinvent the wheel' to add live voice to the services they offer. "The telephone industry in general is heading for a 'Business Revolution.' Today we see all sorts of giveaways on the Internet in order to attract advertising and other business. Before long, we may see carriers giving away free voice calls in the quest to attract customers for fax, e-mail and other enhanced telephone services. Flat rate and the like are already upon us. "Delivery of the 48- and 96-port units will commence with the initial shipment to go out immediately."
