SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 14 (Reuter) - 3Com Corp said in
its quarterly report that it could see slower revenue increases
than the rest of the networking industry because of falling
prices and weaker demand for computer networking gear.

3Com, the second-biggest networking equipment maker after
Cisco Systems Inc , is facing increasing pressure as
Intel Corp makes more low-priced networking equipment
for PCs and as Cisco expands its lead in gear for high-end
networks.

In addition, most companies have completed building their
computer networks, and are buying less gear.

"Based on recent softening of demand for networking
products and competitive pricing pressures, 3Com anticipates
that its results may fall below (the 30-50 percent revenue
growth rate of the rest of the industry) in coming quarters,"
the company revealed in its 10Q filing with the Securities and
Exchange Commission.

In its fiscal third quarter ended February 28, revenue rose
28 percent to $786.8 million. In previous quarters, the
revenue increases were at least 40 percent.
